John Minford, Sun Tzu 1-12: "Do not heed my plan, and even if you did employ me, you would surely be defeated; I will depart."

Employ me or not, no matter, if you do not heed my plan, you're going to lose. Sun Tzu states, emphatically, this is NOT who you hire or don't hire, even himself. It is about the plan. He doesn't teach us the two parts of a plan, as he assumes we know. Since we don't, I'll share.
Inside a plan lies 1) Analysis and 2) Decision. We can't get too picky about what analysis is, other than all the things Sun Tzu has already taught us. Heaven and Earth, The Way, Command and Discipline and all the elements he's given us. These are all analysis.
Decision is, perhaps, the beating heart and soul of Command. A commander must decide, and once decision is made, action must be instantaneous. Decision is the will to clap your hands, action is the sound that results.
Focus again, though, on the term "heed." Sun Tzu is telling us he has a plan, and if we listen, we'll win. If we fail to listen, we'll lose. To heed is to hear, to think, to search and question. We must ponder all the factors of victory and defeat until clarity arises.
It is impossible to overstate the significance of this command. People are ready to dive into action. They'll live or die by the orders given. But this does almost nothing to ensure victory and often leads directly to defeat. A thinking mind is required.
And what is Sun Tzu saying about his own thoughts and decisions? He will judge us. We either heed, or he leaves. He is judging our minds. He will only work with and for one who heeds. A closed mind and stopped up ears are his signal for departure. Unhesitating departure.
Really go there. You are the king. You have the power to do more than merely pay Sun Tzu. You have the ability to grant him everything he requires to fight a very expensive war. You have vast treasures to offer. And what does he say to you? "I must first judge your mind."
Consider the corruption we know pervades our Defense Department. Consider the vast billions of dollars floating. Consider the wars fought, and lost. North Korea. Vietnam. Even handing victory back to Saddam in the first Golf War. Can't you see Sun Tzu walking away?
But look at us, we're no better. We send McCain in 2008, and follow him up with Romney in 2012. These are not kings who heed Sun Tzu's plan. And consider the members of Congress we send in, to fight things like Obamacare, to witness them pass it. They do not heed the plan.
@realDonaldTrump is not our king, we are his kings. He offers us the plan, and we hire him or not with our votes, but far, far more important is Sun Tzu's question: do we heed the plan? I must make a point about Q, here. I am not a follower of Q's.
But if Q's plan is Sun Tzu's plan, then I will heed it. For myself, I read Sun Tzu and make my own assessment. But, I honor any plan that has the force of victory within it, and I urge that we all heed. Like Sun Tzu, we too must judge.
And like Sun Tzu, we must depart when the plan we ourselves offer fails to be heeded. Every politician seeking our vote must heed the plan, and must never allow any force, most especially the Swamp in its power, to make him forget to heed. Otherwise, we must depart him.
Finally, let us all aspire to Sun Tzu's integrity. No bribe can tempt him. No mere employment can turn his head. He has no need of corrupt enticements. He simply offers the plan and demands he be heeded. Every time we vote, this is the integrity available if only we heed Sun Tzu.
