1/ My heart is broken about this transgender ban for so many reasons.

Yes, it’s true that the Republicans have targeted our most vunerable Americans as a cynical political ploy. But, also, because the left doesn’t do a great job standing up for transgender people.

2/ Kamala Harris’s very first question yesterday at her presidential press conference was about her legal work denying transgender people health care. And in her answer she referred to trans people as a “sexual orientation.”

This is something she should know.

3/ Elizabeth Warren’s presidential committee literature correctly lists disabilities, sexual orientation and even weight as a class that should be protected.

Transgender people are not included.

4/ In discussing the Women’s March and Farrakhan, his hateful statements about transgender people don’t make the cut. The left just doesn’t even care enough to ask if transgender people feel included, and journalists don’t bring it up either.

5/ I could give examples like this all day. In general, the left wants to FEEL GOOD about their position on transgender issues - but doesn’t do the work.

It’s hard enough that trans people face the highest rates of suicide, homelessness and poverty in America. We must do better.
