Schumer exits McConnell’s office ***SMILING***

There haven’t been a lot of smiles around here lately.
Lindsey Graham moments ago said on Senate floor he just talked to Trump and Trump said he’d support a 3-week CR if it had some add-ons. Said that’s what McConnell and Schumer were discussing.

(Approx 8 Senate Rs back idea of 3-week CR so far with process to get to a deal).
Sarah Sanders says 3-week CR would require a “wall down payment,” so, womp womp

Automatic CRs are all the rage now. Used to be an idea that conservatives loved and liberals hated because it nukes spending over time via inflation.
(Warner's bill includes automatic inflation INCREASES, Portman's includes automatic CUTS.)
Another reason conservatives like Flake liked CRs back in the day: No earmarks.
Fun fact: If you liked sequestration austerity you should LOVE Portman’s shutdown prevention bill. It cuts spending every 90 days by 1%, forever.
Like sequestration on steroids.

I call Maggie Haberman "Maggie Sunshine" because of the way she valorizes Trump and flatters his worldview to maintain her blessed ~*access*~ to him. This piece does a little bit of that (the excalibur imagery is a bit much), but it is solid, unflinching reporting otherwise.
I will say it's not entirely devoid of flattery, from Trump's point of view. The image of him battling for survival hour by hour is not good for his future as a leader or (more accurately) a tyrant but it is, strange to say, how he prefers to see himself.
