*sigh* life expectancy had gone up for several decades. It dipped by .1 years over the last few years almost exclusively bc we have more freedom than at any time in history, which has led some people to make questionable health choices. That’s on them.

early deaths from things life heart disease are declining. It’s things like drug overdoses that are killing people. Giving people more freedom also means the possibility some of them will make bad choices. There is a balance, but I still prefer we tip the scale toward liberty.
And that doesn’t mean we can’t address some of these things (ex: opioid crisis), but it does mean that people should stop pretending things are terrible and taking for granted the liberty and prosperity that we have achieved.
