NY TV debut 1/29/54 at 6:15 pm on WCBS' "The Early Show.'' Perennial screen villain Dumbrille has rare heroic role in Selander's 1938 western with Toler. Out of copyright since 1966, streaming on @amazonprimenow, complete with Unity TV logo and its video alias MARK OF THE AVENGER
@amazonprimenow NY TV debut 1/29/59 at 5:30 to 7 pm on WCBS' "The Early Show.'' Ad makes no mention of Chief Thundercloud, who plays the title role in Paul Sloane's 1939 Paramount western, which reworked the plot of LIVES OF A BENGAL LANCER. Originally 89 minutes in theaters.
@amazonprimenow NY TV debut 1/29/59 at 11:15 pm on WCBS' "The Late Show.'' The third (some say funniest) of the "Road'' comedies was the first of the five distributed by MCA to be broadcast. Followed by a repeat of LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN on "The Late Late Show'' from 12:45 to 3 am.
@amazonprimenow NY TV debut Thursday 1/29/59 at 11:15 pm on WABC's "Shock Theater,'' hosted by Zacherley. Fourth (1942) entry in the Universal series was distributed by Screen Gems as part of its "Son of Shock'' package. Repeated Friday and Saturday nights.
@amazonprimenow 1/29/64 on WNEW's "10 O'Clock Movie.'' Harry Davenport plays the title role in John Sturges' forgotten 1947 remake of Gene Stratton-Porter drama, previously filmed in 1925 and 1935.
@amazonprimenow 1/29/64 from 9 to midnight on WNEW's "Movie Greats.'' LeRoy's 1944 war classic made US TV debut 11/8/56 in prime time in Los Angeles, but early-retiring New Yorkers had to wait for seven years until the lease ran out at WCBS, which bowed it 1/5/57 on "The Late Show.''
@amazonprimenow US TV debut 1/29/69 from 9 to 11 pm on "The ABC Wednesday Nights Movie.'' The Supremes' earwormish theme song went to the top of the charts in 1967, but Elliot Silverstein's follow-up to CAT BALLOU was a box-office flop. That's Robert Walker Jr. in case you were wondering.

@amazonprimenow 1/29/74 at 1:30 am on WCBS. I once asked Granger about his Hughes-ordered "engagement'' to his co-star to promote 1951 comedy. He called Winters and handed me the receiver. She laughed uproariously. Copyright expired 1979.
@amazonprimenow 1/29/79 from 12:30 to 3:02 am on WNEW. Location shooting and Barbara Harris are main virtues of Coe's sadly dated 1965 adaptation of Herb Gardner's Broadway comedy. US TV debut 4/14/73 on "NBC Saturday Night at the Movies.''
@amazonprimenow Another 1956 ad for independent LA station KTTV touts its MGM acquisitions, which began rolling out a month earlier than on network-owned WCBS in New York, which customarily debuted them in late night.
@amazonprimenow These ads are from the LA Times. I also found an article where KTTV's station manager says they were showing newly-struck 35mm prints of their MGM titles.
