1. While ED is busy appointing his Presidential Advisory Council, a personal project that has no constitutional role, he is totally ignoring perfectly constitutional bodies such as the Independent Complaints Mechanism envisaged under s. 210 of the Constitution.
2. This weekend, I will write more on the idea behind this mechanism, why it was included in the Constitution and why both the Mugabe and Mnangagwa regimes have totally ignored it in the 6 years of the Constitution. Public finances should be spent on legal & constitutional bodies
3. Isn’t it ironic that ED appoints an advisory body barely a week after his government trashed a report by a perfectly constitutional body, the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission, who mandate includes advising government on human rights issues?
4. Apart from that, ED spent hundreds of thousands on the Motlanthe Commission. It produced a report & made recommendations. It was a poor show but even then, ED has not implemented the recommendations of that Commission. Now he adds another layer of advisers? For what?
