[THREAD] This is dedicated to @PlayWithJambo because she’s the best person I’ve ever met and we both have corgis.

Here’s my Baxley story. All my life it’s been me and my mom. All my life, my mom never wanted a pet in the house because our carpets were already stained... 1/11
and just needed replacing. So she didn’t want a pet to add to all that. Well, a couple years ago I moved in with her to be able to pay for grad school instead of rent. We also went through some family trauma & were in a time of needing some healing desperately in our lives...2/11
My mom knew my obsession with corgis and knew how much joy seeing one in person brought me. I love all dogs but there just something about a corgi. So, she PLANNED for the 2 YEARS I was living at home to surprise me with one of my own. She did check rescues & shelters... 3/11
but the few she found in our area were sick and needed extra care that honestly, we weren’t experienced enough with to help give. It wouldn’t have been fair. So, she did diligent research on finding reputable breeders. Turns out there’s one in Arkansas that has had champion..4/11
show dogs in their sire lines for years and is AKC certified and all that. She did her homework for sure. Now remember, I still don’t know any of this is going on.

So, Christmas 2017 is rolling around and we play this game every December of giving each other a hint a day...5/11
About our presents to one another. To be honest, her present sounded like a custom made blanket or artwork or something for my streaming room. She kept saying I would eventually need to meet with the person who had it for me to make sure it was exactly how I wanted it...6/11
She’s done something similar before, and going back to the carpets thing... I never thought it would be a puppy.

Dec. 23 rolls around and it’s the day we go meet with who I think is an artist of some sort. Then, all of a sudden we pull up..and there’s corgis on their gate..7/11
And... I knew.

After this vid the 1st thing I said, “But, you said you didn’t want a dog in your house. Why are you doing this for me?”
I’ll never forget her reply.

“I could be the mom who worries about her carpets, or I could be the mom who did her best to give her daughter happiness.”
9/11
And she did her best and then some. She gave me my companion, my best friend, my emotional support, she gave everything.

And I think he knew it, too.
10/11
So, that’s my Baxley story. We’ve been inseparable since. He’s helped me with anxiety. He’s funny and clever and stubborn. And he’s my boy. ☺️

I also think it’s appropriate that I conclude his story on the same number as his birthday ☺️
