Hey everyone! It’s been a little while and I’ve got some GREAT news!

I’ve failed my first online business. 🤷‍♂️

You might think that’s sarcasm but I assure you, it’s not.

A thread 👇
So, I decided to open an online store to put my marketing skills to the test. I gave myself 14 days (Shopify free trial) to profit.

Needless to say, it didn’t work out.

Good news though! I learned a shitload of what NOT to do and I’m going to share it here.
1. Don’t go in blind.

It’s fine to think you know what you’re doing and have confidence but don’t just blindly jump in. Do a little research into what people WANT to buy.

Know what you want to sell? See if people actually give a shit.
2. Learn Copywriting

No, no, no not the law stuff! Learn to write enticing copy that makes people WANT TO BUY.

I got TONS of engagement and links clicked, etc etc but guess what?

NO ONE BOUGHT ANYTHING

Why?

Because I suck at writing copy that sells. (Cont)
I’ve started researching into copywriting and I have to say the main guy I’d recommend to listen to is @SCHM7DT because he’s actually proven he knows his stuff.

Not sponsored, I know he has a roughly $30 course that got me thinking and upped engagement and I think (cont)
If I didn’t suck as much at copywriting could have resulted in TONS of sales.

Whew, that one was long. Let’s move on.
3. Don’t discount your products just to make sales.

People lose faith that the product is quality when one of 2 thing happens:

• It goes on sale constantly with no rhyme or reason

• It’s TOO inexpensive (let’s be real, it’s cheap)

Trust me, it’ll backfire.
4. SPEND MONEY TO TRY AND SELL

Big one here. If you can’t make the investment why are you even doing it?

The saying is it costs money to make money. Be willing to lose $1k or so. I lost about $500 so far and I’m damn sure not stopping yet.

I’m moving on from my current store but that doesn’t mean I’m quitting. Quite the opposite.

I had a BLAST FAILING.

Honestly it’s the most fun I’ve had in years.

Don’t have money to start? Let me let you in on a little secret... 👇
My buddy @CoachJoe89 has a course on making money to start. It’s called The Art of Flipping.

BELIEVE ME ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Check it out:

Alright, let’s continue...
5. Don’t be afraid to fail.

It’s okay to fail as long as you fail fast and you learn from it. That’s why I’m sharing this.

Watch the big guys and learn how they do it. It helps.

You’re going to fail at new things, that’s life. Just keep pushing.
That’s it for now.

If you made it to the end, thank you. I hope you enjoyed this story. 🙏

I’ll try to post more frequently about my process and learning this stuff.

It’s exciting to see growth and I’m loving marketing more and more.
Feel free to DM me at any time and we can talk. I’m open about my failures and successes no matter how big or small.

Thank you all again for the support and I can’t wait to give you more insight into this world of mine.
