When you "tip" an Amazon driver, the driver doesn't receive that money as a bonus. Instead, Amazon uses it to pay them the base wage they were already promised. This is an unfair and misleading practice that doesn't match anyone's understanding of a tip. latimes.com/business/techn…
I'm no fan of tipping as a means of compensation generally cause it allows businesses to pass their duty to pay fairly on to the customer. But customers tip b/c they believe they're SUPPLEMENTING base pay; to offer "tipping" that doesn't is stealing from the consumer AND worker.
In a perfect world, employees would be paid a fair, competitive living wage without having to deal with the unpredictability and fickleness of tipping. But when tipping IS offered, it must be fair and aboveboard. What Amazon is doing is wage theft.
