So how does it work, authors? You read all the book reviews? None of them? Only the good ones? You practice voodoo on the worst critics or what? Asking for a friend.

The point about Goodreads based on the responses I got, folks, is that for AUTHORS as opposed to READERS, it can be a tough tough forum depending on the thickness of your skin. Carry on.

Cranky & starving waiting for delayed train in Philly trying to get home. No food available at 30th Street station at this hour. But Bridgewater’s pub is open. Does that mean the glass is half full or...full?
I even have my government-issued ID, yet there is neither cereal nor pizza for purchase

Hanging in Atlantic City this weekend. One guess how I’m passing the time?
Guys, obviously I’m in Atlantic City to watch my 13-year old son compete in a tournament solving what we used to call Rubik’s cubes. But I enjoyed the other guesses very much. #cubing

Further, half the things people are replying about—sci-fi (my own research), reality TV & gaming—are things people do actual real research on already.
I also feel like this article concept is another way of performing that academics can’t embrace pleasure, that work can not be pleasurable. I say fuck that and read @adriennemaree’s new book Pleasure Activism next month when it drops.

1) Some of my friends tell me, "But Pasquale, there's so much going on in 2019, and it's all so important, why in the world are you trying to talk about those crazy, home-brew charts you drew back in 2016? Get over it. We have more important things to focus on!"

Impulse purchased discount Aldi plants and a terracotta pot to stick in the weed patch that is my garden. Old dude next door excitedly started giving me gardening advice and lent me seven types of tools so long story short, I am now guilt digging a 12 foot flower bed.
He has visions for this garden that go well beyond my three terracotta pots. Apparently I am going to have a rockery. Whatever that is.
Disappointed to learn the only flowers already growing in the garden, which I quite liked, are weeds that must be pulled up immediately. It seems I am not a natural.

1/ The more I meditate, the more I internalize following insights:

We live our days as if there’s a unifying self, but in reality our mind is composed of different modules and each one has its own goals and values.
2/ The goal of our ego module is to connect all of these modules’ goals and values into a reasonable story.

Meditation reveals this madness behind competing thoughts in our mind.
3/ The games we choose to play (wealth, status, social media followers, beauty) end up taking over our lives. Goals further give us goals.

Meditation shows tha life can be lived without competing.
