I have hundreds of pictures I would have liked to include in “Midnight In Chernobyl” but only limited space. So I’ll post a few of them here, starting with images from before the accident.

Scoop by @rgoodlaw and me: For the entire 3.5 years the US refueled Saudi jets in Yemen, the Pentagon never had an official servicing agreement in place with the Saudis, never informed Congress.

Oh, and they don't know what they're owed for the fuel.

In March - after providing faulty refueling data to reporters - Senators asked DoD for a full accounting of reimbursements from the Saudi Coalition for refueling. DoD responded 8 months later, the day before the Yemen vote. They said they couldn't answer.

Not only could they not answer what they were owed, but it's not clear they've been able to track what was given to the Saudis and Emiratis -- we knew they didn't track missions -- or even what they were paid for the fuel -- which they must be under law.

And before I kick off, I want to point out that when I mention the bad stuff it is not meant as a complaint. We know the score, and knew it from the outset, I just wanted to share the reality with you as I think you'll find it interesting.
For the past couple of years I have been acquiring and helping to publish fiction and non-fiction for Eye & Lightning Books, sister imprints that have a 20-year history between them.

And lasting that long as a tiny indie is a remarkable feat.

To begin, we really value expert feedback. We had a nearly two-year review process before the Jan.2018 release, which we were delighted to find brought in a great many stakeholders, including experts, users and subject jurisdiction policymakers..
