I'm truly scared for what's gonna happen this election cause folks are falling for fake news...actual fake news, not the shit Trump claims is fake, at a much higher rate.
The Jussie Smollett story about him lying yesterday was soooooooooooo filmsy, particularly the site but folks ran with it. The site folks were citing looks like it's 1 step above GeoCities
Yet it got all the way to MAJOR outlets as truth.
And this isn't just a white ppl thing. So many black ppl fell for that AND the Kamala Harris thing and kept pushing it

We've gotten to the point where people will say "do your research" but that's the extent of the research they'll do. They'll say that but all they've done is do a quick google search and look at headlines. They don't actually read the articles or comprehend them
This is dangerous as fuck. Folks spent days pushing the idea that Kamala Harris was being "fake" and now that it's been proven to be false now they're pivoting to "I mean yeah but she's still terrible".

This is a problem. We live in a time when if you push a lie long enough it has even more staying power than the truth. That's dangerous as fuck
5 minutes reading the "sources" on the Smollett and the claims that the police were going to arrest him for lying would be easily seen as shady.
