John McCain was a war hero. A veteran.

He was also a really shitty politician when you took just a step past the shine the media has put over him. I get it. I used to be blinded by McCain's politics too

If John McCain was the true Maverick that folks claim he was. If he was the "last of a dying breed" of politician, then he would have used his last years actually standing up for something instead of being the real life Cotton Hill

If Trump wasn't such an asshole to McCain, McCain wouldn't have voted thumbs down on the Healthcare bill. We know this because he voted along party lines, with trump like 80-90% of the time

McCain was a vindictive, cranky and petty man. If he felt like he was personally wronged by you, then he would be an asshole. He didn't vote to stop that Healthcare Bill out of the kindness of his heart but rather cause it would piss Trump off.

That's not a hero

If he was a political hero, he would have switched parties. He would have sided with Democrats to stop Trump's policies.

Why? Cause while he personally hated trump, he was perfectly fine with his politics

Folks keep making excuses for McCain. Which is it? Is he the bold, Maverick politician who stood up for what was right or was he the weak, defenseless man who couldn't do anythign when his party dropped the curtain and went full racist?

Cause I remember the McCain that seemed perfectly fine with letting HIS VP pick in Palin and the rest of his party go right along with their birther/islamophobia

I remember during the healthcare debate when Obama met with Republicans in a televised day long meeting, John McCain being more concerned about being a dick to Obama than working out a solution for healthcare

Ironic considering he died from cancer but McCain wasn't even a champion for healthcare.

what exactly was McCain a champion of? What did he do other than always let folks down who believed he was a moderate and "non-partisan"?

I'm just trying to understand where all this is coming from. Folks so quickly forgetting all the shitty things McCain did RECENTLY to lift up some fictional version of him that was never true
