May 2017: @NGRPresident approved the handover of the International Airport Road, Lagos (Oshodi—MMIA) to @followlasg, for reconstruction.

Here’s the Road now, upgraded from a 4-lane to a 10-lane Highway. Work still ongoing. (I filmed this on Friday).
The new Oshodi Transport Interchange being built by @followlasg: 3 Bus Terminals; each one 30,000 square metres; all three connected by a Skywalk (straight ahead in the video)

The major gateway roads coming in/out of Lagos are all under reconstruction - this has NEVER happened since 1999 at least:

Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Lagos-Otta-Abeokuta Road
Ikorodu-Sagamu Road
Lagos-Badagry Expressway

And then the Jewel: the brand new 158km #LagosIbadanRail Line
Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. 130km, connecting Lagos and Ibadan, via Ogun State

The PDP legacy on this road is at least 2 FAILED concessions in 16 years, one in 2009 & another in 2015. Court case upon court case, while the road deteriorated

Now being fully reconstructed, under PIDF

I took this picture from the balcony of a serviced apartment in #Lagos.
While air from the outdoor unit of the AC warms my legs, I notice they have no lights (tnx #NEPA).

It's a microcosm of what Lagos is.
A place where abject poverty lives right next to extreme opulence. 1/?
From the island which sits right next to the mainland, to the pockets of estates living amidst an ocean of shacks and slums.

It's a bit sickening.

I remember seeing a pearly white mansion which opened to a roundabout on the Island. Mesmerizing. 2/?
There's things I've seen on the Island that I could never have imagined.

Lines of yachts moored along the edges. Traffic jams where Range Rovers were the Corollas.

Drinks that go for thousands of dollars per bottle. Clubs that serve these drinks. 3/?

Again, at such a key moment in UK and at such high political levels, evidence of deep misunderstanding of EU: The PM is under pressure in some quarters to delay #Brexit vote to allow her first to “improve” deal in Brussels BUT EU is determined not to budge at this stage
2) All EU leaders watching tomorrow’s vote. Of course they want to avoid a no deal #Brexit BUT they feel the deal - so painfully negotiated between EU and UK - is too fresh to re-open. Clarifications, yes but fundamental renegotiations, no.
3) The EU’s international reputation as a tough deal-maker is at stake here too. If Brussels now suddenly “gives in” to U.K. on EU red lines (eg backstop) then that would weaken the EU’s reputation in future trade negotiations with other non EU countries
