Press Briefing by @officialAPCng Chairman, on the election postponement. Attended by President @MBuhari and VP @ProfOsinbajo, Party NEC, State Governors, Ministers etc
Adams Oshiomhole on the Postponement: “We woke up at 2.30am, people were calling one another, to ask, have you heard the news?”
Adams Oshiomhole: “The more I listened to INEC chairman the more disgusted I became. The more explanations he made the more questions that were left unanswered.”
Adams Oshiomhole: “INEC, having violated our confidence, must now work to earn or re-earn it.”
AO: “INEC leadership shared this info with PDP & advised them not to waste their resources while pretending to us they were on top of the situation. Whatever info INEC conveyed to PDP they ought to convey to us. Not ‘cos we are the governing party but ‘cos we are a major player.”
Oshiomhole: “There are some suggestions that there are elements in INEC working with anti-democratic forces to create conditions that will make elections impossible within the confines of the law. Whoever will preside over Nigeria must do so on the basis of one man one vote.”
AO: “We must now go back to renew the campaign. The laws made by Parliament are superior to the opinions of INEC chairman,w/ due respect to his office. We‘re proceeding & ready to meet them in court;they cannot w/ admin fiat try to distort Extant provisions of the electoral act.”
Oshiomhole: “We do not want staggered elections; we want nationwide elections, same time, same day, all over the country.”
Oshiomhole: “Our commitment to democracy is non-negotiable. Our people’s determination to re-elect President @MBuhari is not at the mercy of any institution, including INEC.”
