The purpose of university education is to open minds. People who want job skills should go to polytechnics. You can also study for a degree in the humanities and train to be carpenter or mechanic at the same time as accountants do.
I wrote about this last year, but many people had suspended reason.

Education in Africa is still based on the colonial elimination system set up to select “nyapara” (overseers). It inculcates a culture of entitlement to civil service and managerial jobs. Problem is population/education expansion has outstripped the “nyapara” cadres.
KNBS data: university grads are 3% of pop, unemployment is high but thats because they are young, and unemployment is a youth problem. But public discourse is all about graduates— entitlement mindset.
Memo to grads: The elite privilege economy is not coming back.
