Why does @ajc continue to print claims from SOS that are simply untrue?

Experts have explained repeatedly that system proposed does not support meaningful audits. Yet AJC states as fact that ballots can be used to "double check." Why keep misleading the public? Too many years of that with the DREs. cc: @markniesse @rad_atl @philipbstark @bluestein 2/

Tweeting from Senate Ethics committee hearing #HB316. The most depressing legislative "process" that I have ever experienced. @kirkpatrickdk , chair ( R ), picked the speakers today for the Proponents and the Opponents. Not permitting any credentialed experts for Opponents. 1/
2/ Sponsor @flemingbarrya is making so many dishonest statements including claiming that no time limits were imposed on witnesses and that all people who wanted to speak could. Claims that touchscreens are 100% accurate---never mind the research.
3/ Chair announced that she has a substitute bill but she has not distributed it. They will be voting on a very complex bill that that the public has not seen.

2/ there was such a thing. But there's not. And I certainly don't want to mark my ballot with pencil!!
3/ But the fact that he got his right hand man to conduct this study and acted as if it was independent, tells us a lot about @GaSecofState and @flemingbarrya and their motives and tactics. Must be a big prize at stake here! 💰💰🤔

I've had it with @flemingbarrya and his dishonest claims in his determination to ram through #HB316 without letting the facts be known to lawmakers. Today, he made this ridiculous statement that WHETHER voters review their votes on ballot cards is a "policy question." 1/
2/ No, it is a fact based on much research that a most voters do not review, and most cannot remember the full content of the ballot, causing the ballot card not to be reliable for an audit. But @flemingbarrya wants to make this fact into a "policy questions?" ❓❓🙄🤔
3/ He first says that it is the voter's "personal responsibility" to verify his ballot ‼️I'd like to see @flemingbarrya "verify" this typical ballot without a cheat sheet. Any races missing, Barry? Can you fulfill your "personal responsibility" to remember everything?

Election management systems are the centralized computers used to program all polling place voting equipment (voting machines, scanners & ballot marking devices) before each election. They also include the central tabulators that aggregate all electronic precinct tallies!

@amyklobuchar needs to clarify this ASAP. Profit-motivated vendors and others use the misleading phrase “voter marked paper ballots” to include either #HandMarkedPaperBallots (democracy’s gold standard) or crappy barcoded paper printouts from hackable ballot marking devices. 1/
These vendors and others know the difference, but the media and the public do not. It’s a scam that enables vendors to sell touchscreen barcode ballot marking devices (that all independent IT experts advise against) as “paper ballot” systems. 2/
They are able to get away with this because there is no universal definition of “paper ballot”. It is a fraud on the public, and we must ensure that all our POTUS candidates understand the importance of #HandmarkedPaperBallots and that #BarcodeVoting is a scam. 3/

“Paper trail” is vendor code for NOT “hand marked paper ballots.” So much for @PAStateDept’s “blue ribbon” election security commission. Studies show paper trails can be corrupted to omit, add or change races, & voters won’t notice, rendering any manual audit useless! 1/

1. New Jersey (like Georgia) still exclusively uses PAPERLESS (unverifiable) voting machines! "[L]awmakers took ... measures in 2005 and 2007 to require paper ballots and audits of them, but a lack of funding meant neither law has been implemented." northjersey.com/story/news/new…
2. This sort of conundrum (legislation requiring paper ballots, but no funding 2 implement) is why we must call our reps in the U.S. Congress 2 demand they pass the proposed $400 M allocation toward paper ballots & other election security measures!
3. Computer Science Professor Andrew Appel said this about New Jersey's paperless voting machines: "'I'm quite concerned ... If it [hacking] hasn't happened yet, which we DON'T KNOW because we can't audit the results, that doesn't mean it won't happen.'" northjersey.com/story/news/new…
