ISIS was an extraordinary story which requires either a Dostoevsky or a Bram Stoker to tell. Their saga is an extraordinary look into the late 20th and early 21st century soul, or the lack thereof.
So far the accounts of this period have been action stories. But while the kinetic account is important the true literary challenge is to explain why? And why the West's uncertain response? Who was guilty, perhaps unintentionally, and of what?
