/ Last June, the @SPLCenter agreed to pay Maajid Nawaz $3.4M after wrongly putting him on a list of "anti-Muslim extremists." It took the @nytimes EIGHT MONTHS to report this, and then only in passing in the last graf of this week's story on hate groups.

/ This is not because the SPLC tried to hide it. SPLC President Richard Cohen posted a video apology immediately which is still on the SPLC website:
splcenter.org/splc-statement…
/ During these eight months, the @nytimes has repeatedly cited the SPLC without disclosing this multi-million dollar settlement. They are not alone. The AP, Newsweek, the Daily Beast & the Atlantic are the only major non-conservative leaning sites that reported it. No networks.
/ There was a single mention of the settlement in the @nytimes in a @DavidAFrench op-ed last July. The only mention in the @washingtonpost was in a @marcthiessen op-ed in June.
/ The quashing of the settlement story by a media that constantly cites the SPLC as an expert source is inexcusable & cannot be explained away as somehow not newsworthy or so obscure no one was aware. This is nothing less than a deliberate whitewashing to protect the SPLC.
