My son convinced his friends to start a volleyball team. They’ve never played. He told them all to watch anime to learn how to play.

This should be an interesting season.
They were three points from winning the first game of their first match. Then everything fell apart and they lost 2 games to none. After the loss, they stayed in the gym and practiced for two more hours.

I will chronicle the rest of their season in this thread.
In their second match, the anime volleyball boys were up by eight points, but they couldn’t handle the other team’s overhand serves. They did win one game, but lost the match 2 games to 1.
Third match is today. They lost a game on two bad calls that should have given them points and the win. Redeemed themselves by winning game 2. Now on to game 3.
And they take game 3 to win their first match!
Today is their fourth match. It is against the best team in the league. They are significant underdogs. Let’s see if they can pull this off.
They lost game one 25-7...
And they fall again in game two 25-20 to lose the match.
Today was not their day.
Untold backstory of the anime volleyball boys:

This is their first year playing volleyball, but their fifth year playing basketball together. Today, in their final season before high school, they finally won the championship in basketball.
But this is their volleyball story.

Their next match is later today against the number three team. They need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Game one is tied at 17!
But they fall 25-21. On to game two.
Leading game two 19-17
But now trailing 20-19!
And...
They lose the game 25-21 and the match.
They’re playing their next game. They’re leading 8-4 in game one.
Leading 18-9
Tied at 22.
AND THEY GET THE WIN!

25-23.

On to game 2!
Losing game 2 8 to 5. Called time out to regroup.
Time out worked! Now tied at 10-10.
Other team had a kid with a canon for a serve, but they survived it. Now leading 17-16.
Leading 23-20!
And the get the win! 25-21 for their second win. They are now 2-4 and their next game is tomorrow.
Game one in today’s match has started and the anime volleyball boys are leading 12-7.
Massive spike by my boy to put them up 24-13. They took game one 25-14.
Game two is a different story. They were down 13-5, but after a short run it’s now 14-9.
Now 14-12. The other team calls a time out.
Tied at 15!
And the anime volleyball boys take the lead! Now 18-15!
And they go up 22-17 on an epic rally.
And they win the match, 25-17 for their third win. They have another game next week, but they also have a basketball tournament that may overlap and they may need to forfeit. We’ll see what happens.
Guess what! It’s volleyball game day, but I’m at #PAXEast... But updates will be incoming on their final game of the season as they try to finish with a .500 record.
Nooo... They lost game one 25-15.
