Riddle me this, Twitter: I’m one of those SJWs who tends to feel we don’t think seriously enough about how speech can inflict harm. So what does it mean that my most vociferous critics are also deeply alarmed by Leftwing Outage Mobs and their impact on their target’s well-being?
Bracket entirely for a moment the ways that online speech can have offline consequences, eg reputational, death threats, etc. I’m talking just about the angry trolls and their insults, which it is alleged can trigger real emotional harm (see SSC).
Is this genuine horseshoe theory? Or am I misunderstanding things?
