I was on #SimonBolivar international bridge connecting #Venezuela and #Colombia. #Thread

1. The '#humanitarianaid volunteers' were violent and masked up, unlike any humanitarians I have ever seen.

They also appeared to be aided (no pun intended) by the Colombian authorities.
2. What appeared to be a hand gun was seen with the 'volunteers' on the Colombian side. Y would #Colombian authorites allow a boy masked up to past them with a gun, was it really all about #humanitarianaid?

Or were they sending some kids to do their dirty work. #JustAsking?
3. The local community on the #Venezuela side were supporting their army- cheering on every push back. Clearing the stones after they were thrown at the soldiers and bringing water etc to soldiers on the front line

They didn't seem too welcoming the '#humanitarianaid volunteers'
4. #Venezuelans were keen for me to film. Itwas clear, they wanted theworldto see that they werenot the aggressors. They seemed to understand the #mediawar they're in.The 'west' is winning that war on TV. But they can win on #socialmedia where there is huge resistance to #CNN etc
5. What is crazy about all this, is #usa #Colombia etc claim to be saving #Venezuela's poor, yet they are overwhelming against foreign aggression

1 of those people @realDonaldTrump and @IvanDuque was meant to be saving was hit by a rock thrown by a 'humanitarian aid volunteer'
6. Finally I was almost hit by a rock twice.

I was not identifiable as press (I think they thought I was a chavista) but others were and they were being targeted too.

Atm it feels like it's not safe for journos ontheborder especially those not gobbling up #CNN n @MSNBC's line
