Oh dear. Well, I guess I have no choice. Follow this thread for all seven; I'm not sure i will remember to do one a day for seven days!
1/7 The Mahabharata: the great epic, embracing story, philosophy, psychology, politics and more. “What is here, is nowhere else”; the epic boasts; “what is not here, is nowhere”. @bibekdebroy
2/7 The Discovery of India by Jawaharlal Nehru; a profound vision of what has made India and Nehru. @SunilKhilnani
3/7 One Hundred Years Of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez; extraordinary, magical reinvention of the Latin-American experience. @kanishktharoor
4/7 Heavy Weather by P. G Wodehouse: One of the funniest of Wodehouse’s well-crafted masterpieces, among the many others he’s written; any one of several other masterworks by him would do as well. @TharoorBhakt
5/7 The Saga of Khassak by OV Vijayan: This was originally a Malayalam novel that invented magic realism years before Gabriel García Márquez attempted it. @TharoorAssociates
6/7 The Book of Laughter and Forgetting by Milan Kundera: A moving, evocative experience of East European history, informed by a rare insight into humanity. @ishaantharoor
7/7 The One Hundred Year-Old Man Who Jumped out of a Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonsson: The funniest, most joyous book I have read in years. Twentieth-century history retold through an ingenious plot in a comic caper that never ceases to surprise and delight. @OmarAbdullah
A special 8th book, which i loved more than all the others: Swimmer Among the Stars by @KanishkTharoor, a wonderful collection of stories that break conventions of time&space, evoking w/insight & compassion our old&new worlds. By a hugely talented writer who happens to be my son.
