UPDATE on progress of work on Second Niger Bridge (1.6km Bridge + 10.3km Highway).

1,129 personnel on site. Construction work ongoing in Oko Amakom (Asaba side), Atani (Onitsha side), and in the River itself.

Completion Date as previously announced: Q1 2022.

Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Expansion: Work involves Construction of new drainage systems; new underpasses; FlyOvers; Toll Plazas and Pedestrian Bridges.

UPDATE on Progress of Kano-Zaria-Kaduna-Abuja Road:

- Rehabilitation of 165.5 km long carriageway from Abuja to Kaduna
- Rehabilitation of 73.4 km long carriageway from Kaduna to Zaria
- Rehabilitation of 137 km long carriageway from Zaria to Kano
These 3 Roads highlighted above are being funded by the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF), established by Pres @MBuhari in 2018 to fasttrack delivery of critical infrastructure projects.PIDF is managed by @nsia_nigeria, & will mobilize public and private capital

Been meaning to do this thread for a while - looking at Healthcare in Nigeria, and what @NGRPresident @AsoRock have achieved in the last 4 years, under President @MBuhari

Use seatbelt let’s take a ride.
The starting point for this is the fact that the responsibility for healthcare in Nigeria is shared by all three tiers of Govt. Primary Health Care is largely in the hands of the States and Local Govts. Anyone looking EXCLUSIVELY to Abuja for progress is making a mistake.
Of course the FG has an important supporting role. And under @MBuhari it has played that role diligently. #DidYouKnow that since 2016, the Buhari Admin has given State Govts (all 36 States + FCT) a total of US$259 Million specifically to improve Maternal, Newborn & Child Health.

By the end of @MBuhari’s 2nd Term, I firmly believe Nigerians would have come to take Infrastructure delivery for granted. That’s the goal.

We shout about it today because it’s a rarity (legacy of the PDPast) - by 2023, we will have come to take it for granted.

As we should.
Same applies to a Social Safety Net for the poorest & most vulnerable Nigerians. These are the long overdue programmes that should Quickly become part of the very fabric of national consciousness.

We must come to a place where we are able to take these basic things for granted.
We shout about Infrastructure & the completion of abandoned projects today so that our children will not have to shout about it tomorrow.

We expect a Nigeria in which it becomes the norm for politicians to complete unfinished projects. That was not the Nigeria Buhari met in 2015

My habit with social media these days, and as has been for a long time is this - I don't bother to get into arguments.

One thing I have learned is that many minds have been made up, so no matter what facts you bring up, they will continue believing what they want to believe.
However, a phone conversation I had this morning, made it clear that sometimes, for the sake of those whose minds haven't been made up, it is important to revisit a conversation.

So, here goes...
Yesterday, Festus Keyamo published some pix including a contract award for the "fourth phase" of the Second Niger Bridge.

To me, the dates in that document were proof that I was right when I talked about no work ongoing at site when I visited in May.

-President M. Buhari was personally hurt when he was informed that former President Goodluck Jonathan refused to provide portable water for his people in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
The president did not only earmark the sum of N5.8 billion for this project but also ensured that it was completed in the second year of his presidency, in 2016.
-When President Buhari was told that Yenagoa-Otuoke Expressway is impassable, a death-trap and that residents of the area are experiencing untold hardship plying the road, despite d fact that a native of the area was president for abot six years. Immediately, he swung into action
