Thank you so much Senator! I just got home and am feeling dramatically better. Good as new, in fact, or as we in the chronic disease world prefer to say, "back to baseline!"

My stay taught and highlighted a few things for me.
1. Almost all health care professionals are ridiculously good at their jobs and ridiculously good human beings. I'm talking about the nurses, techs, therapists, janitors, cafeteria workers, admin staff, doctor, everyone.
2. They should be paid good wages, given the right to form a union if they want one, and be thanked publicly at football games like some other public servants. They should get paid sick days and family leave, paid vacation and dignified retirement. Oh, and great healthcare too.
4. Quality care makes a huge impact on patients & family. For many, hospital visits are some of the most stressful, upsetting, uncertain, scary moments of life. Having good support is so valuable.

It is a tragedy & farce that not everyone in America gets that kind of care.
5. The disparities are so stark, and so predictably cruel to the people who are already marginalized in our society. Poor people, disabled people, people of color. The intersectionalities obviously make the problem worse..

What if we decided that should change?
6. I believe that in the next three years, we -- the Big We -- can change all that. We can build the power. We can organize the people. We can elect the right leaders. We can pass the law. Si se puede.

Postscript just to name some names: Chelsea, Monica, Noe, and Vito, and Doctors Graber, Nguyen, Jensen, and Tarleton, thanks so much for everything. @cottagehealth and @sansumclinic,your staff are good!

PPS: Mom, Abba, and @rachael_scar, y'all stepped up pretty nicely too!
