REPORTERS: PAY ATTENTION! I’m going to do you a favor here because you’re all running with the DCCC talking point that somehow the GOP is embarrassed here.
“What’s the GOP message?” you ask. “They didn’t vote together!” you observe. “Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!” you titter, excitedly. These are dumb, dumb takes. Don’t make them.
Imagine a hypothetical Democrat messaging on this resolution. What do you say? “You voted against a resolution condemning hate!” Cool. Great. Let’s talk about why that resolution exists.
Democrats would love for Omar to disappear. She’s electoral poison and a divisive figure in their caucus. So tell me WHY a Democrat would want to focus a debate on her. I’ll wait.

The abusive lenders are the universities, which have responded to blanket federal subsidies for an inelastic good by jacking up tuition rates while socializing the risk of default. The higher ed institutions are the bad guys here.
I am 100% for imposing wage and price controls on tuition and fees for institutes of higher learning. If they don’t like that, then they can opt out of FAFSA...and NIH and NSF support.
You want the federal government to socialize and backstop your lending risk? Fine. Then the federal government gets to impose some terms on that lending, specifically how much you’re allowed to lend and how much the good costs.

It’s gonna be Sanders. And centrist Dems will hold their noses and vote for him.
The only Bernie-slayer out there is Beto. It ain’t gonna be Biden.
And for the record, I think Trump probably beats Bernie three times out of five - and would have beat him in 2016 too. Still, Bernie is very close to being president and most people seem blissfully unaware of this fact.

@davidfrum @TheAtlantic This has nothing to do with enforcement. The president is claimig the immigrants coming to our country are some kind of ‘liberal plot’ or somehow associated with the Democratic party - this is a lie. Democrats want border enforcement too - we just don’t think a wall makes sense.
@davidfrum @TheAtlantic You of all people should recognize that this entire story is a propaganda piece being used by the President & his alt-reich pals to create a kind of xenophobic fury in order to get more votes for the midterms. There’s a discussion re enforcement but this is a false narrative.
@davidfrum @TheAtlantic The majority of Dem voters are in favor of border enforcement- it’s just not high on the list of priorities given the current state of our country/ politics. Democratic leaders have voted for stronger border enforcement very recently & have been pushing for immigration reforms.

1. #GOP leadership must quit pushing the talking point that Russia's attack on the 2016 election didn't actually impact the election results - there is no basis for that statement. That misrepresentation may serve the GOP and DT's ego, but it does NOT serve the American people.
2. If the people of this country are to prepare themselves for additional foreign attacks and protect themselves from these nefarious actors, then they must fully understand the extent and impact of Russia's cyber-espionage and assault on our democracy.
3. Further, as the indictments and trials from Mueller's probe ensue, the role the #GOP played in aiding and abetting this attack will unfold. Now, is the time to begin righting these wrongs, not self-servingly watering down the impact and fleeing accountability.

2. Two consistent platform features push diametrically against each other. An adherence to the failed 'Trickle Down Economics' model & Deregulation. Your core desire for small government will result in failure of your economic plan every time. The #GOPTaxScam will be disasterous.
3. Your model fails because you stack the deck for those at the top and then sit back touting your laissez-faire foundation, just hoping your 'plan' is going to magically happen in a socially beneficial way - and, repeatedly, it doesn't. Why not?
