The world's battery companies are building factories to produce ~1TWh of lithium-ion batteries per year by 2030.

Now, not all will actually get built. If they did, within 10 years, we'd have enough battery to store 4 hours of global electricity demand each day.
4 hours of storage, that could be used once or even twice a day, is actually quite tremendous. It means solar power through the evening peak, and wind shifted from blustery low-electricity-demand nights to higher-demand mornings. 2/
In actuality, bulk of these batteries will go to vehicles, not stationary storage. Regardless, the scale of battery factories planned for the coming decade is quite stunning. We still don't have a solution for seasonal storage. But intra-day storage of a few hours is coming.
