Important contribution to the immigration post-FOM debate. I’d pick out the following points.
The ludicrous complexity of immigration rules has to be addressed. And Parliament needs to have control over rule changes and ballooning immigration fees (far higher than in most countries and with serious knock on effects not taken into account by the HO).
Getting case decisions wrong is leading to very high appeal success rates. This is a very expensive and stressful way of getting to the right decisions.
Finally - and with some reluctance - @instituteforgov suggests taking immigration away from the HO. The case made for that is very strong. Perhaps a Department of Employment and Immigration?
