So I asked myself how much seigniorage the US gets from printing money. The answer is around 1/2 a percent of GDP, only slightly up from historical levels 2/
More of that is $100 bills than before, and probably more of it is foreign demand thanks to the decline in domestic use of cash. But while it's an interesting story, it's not as big a deal economically as one might hope. /wet rag 3/
