Maybe it's time for the media and politicians to finally stop treating white nationalism like a difference of opinion and start treating it like the terrorism that it is.
Whether you're a POC, Jewish, or Muslim, these far-right types want us gone. They either want mass displacement or mass murder. So just because Fox News coddles them for views, or Republicans coddle them for votes, doesn't mean we need to coddle them too.
White nationalists stepped up their recruitment efforts on college campuses since Charlottesville. They're getting more views than ever on youtube, and feel more represented than ever in politics. We need to have a more pointed and honest convo about this.

Btw, a thing that white nationalists work hard at is maintaining the veneer of plausible deniability. It's how they keep from being held accountable; by treating everything like a joke until it isn't. @ashleyfeinberg wrote a great piece on their playbook.

People have been rightfully outraged by Tucker Carlson's old comments, but the fact he spouts bigotry on his show so regularly that he's now openly praised by the leaders of white nationalism should outrage people just as much.

Here's where the conversation could start: The media finally confronting the president about his coddling of white nationalism. He can't keep getting a pass while he links to hate sites where his base celebrates the murder of Muslims in the comments.

We've made the mistake of treating Charlottesville as an anomaly. This is a necessary piece on the wrong turns America has taken since. Another chance to start a conversation.

This new essay by @AdamSerwer is tragically timely, but also required reading.

One last thing, this mostly went unnoticed when it happened, but Trump cut all funding to the only organization dedicated to combating white supremacist groups by helping members who want a way out. Their name's @lifeafterhate and they could use your help.
The funding to @lifeafterhate, which combats right-wing extremism, was cut 2 months before the Charlottesville attack.
