Just like polluters, they want to sell their product and then escape any responsibility for foreseeable outcomes.

Of course of the seventy-three (yes, 73) 5-4 partisan decisions by the #RobertsCourt giving wins to big #Republican donor interests, many were to help corporations avoid their day in court after wrongdoing.

So, look for firearms industry to get #Republican Justices to bail them out.

If the “vision for Care New England under a merger with Brigham Health is for an ‘expansion of services in Rhode Island,’” that should be specified enforcibly in the merger agreement. pbn.com/lifespan-cne-p…
This merger could be a win or a disaster for #RI, and details will make the difference.

These are some reasonable questions to pin down:

1⃣Will administrative jobs now in R.I. be lost through consolidation?
2⃣Will legal/accounting and other contracts now w R.I. firms be lost?

BTW “Innovation” is the new fossil fuel phony talking point — as the industry fights against the policies that would launch such innovation: it’s as phony as “hoax,” as phony as “science not settled,” as phony as “climate always changes,” as phony as “too costly to fix.”

1—We know how to manage long term vs short term
2—Global interdependencies don't matter
3—permission for uncapped spending
4—ignoring effect of aging
5—We can control inflation post-MMT
1) LT vs ST
Even w/traditional keynesianism, we are terrible at ½ the theory. SAVE during booms, spend during downturns. We've got the 2nd half down. Not the first one. Is there anything in our history that might suggest we are capable or willing to make good LT rate decisions?

Good #economics debate among @oren_cass @benshapiro @EricRWeinstein on what if market capitalism can no longer produce marriageable men & stable family formation. Is there a case for intervention...presuming we can identify root causes.

-⬆️women in workforce👉wage competition, ⬆️supply
-divorce law disincentives
-mass incarceration of black men
-adverse public assistance incentives
-⬆️lifestyle choice
Interesting to note many of these are self-inflicted: direct byproducts of policies we enacted.
-loss of manufacturing jobs expedited by free trade agreements
-incarceration, divorce & welfare laws adverse consequences
-Fannie/Freddie/health tax breaks created massive distortions

despite the flash flood warning, tonight’s joint session of charlottesville city council & the human rights commission is still on!
(i’ve seen pictures of some flooding in other parts of town, but i didn’t encounter any downtown. the albemarle county school board meeting is off.)
it looks like there’s only ONE actual member of the commission here?
charlene green (staff, not on the commission) from the office of human rights is addressing interim city manager mike murphy & councilors hill, signer, and galvin.
city attorney john blair is in the audience.
ann smith, the commission’s chair & the only member present tonight, is reading from a powerpoint about the role & history of the commission.
i’m unable to locate an agenda for tonight’s work session...
