Trump falsely said again last week that he ended immigration "catch and release": "And we're catching them and we're keeping them. We're not doing release."

ICE tells me today that about 84,500 people from "family units" were released between late December and early March.
This number was reported by the Arizona Republic (azcentral.com/story/news/loc…) in early March. Breitbart, which fawns over Trump but sometimes criticizes him on immigration, then picked up the story.
It is impossible for the U.S. to not release lots of people crossing these days: it's far from a record for overall crossings, but it's an exceptional numbers of asylum seekers and family units. ICE accurately says it's severely constrained. So: no, Trump has not ended releases.
