.@amnesty interviewed over 150 eyewitnesses, relatives, and experts. They found that 14 civilians were killed and 8 more injured in just 5 drone strikes in the past two years, in violation of international law.
It includes 3 farmers who were killed in November 2017. “These three young men were not expecting to be killed by a plane, and we did not expect the world to be silent,” a witness said.
Drone strikes in Somalia have tripled under Trump—they now total more than Yemen and Libya combined.
And this month, Trump revoked the requirement that the Pentagon release information on civilian casualties in drone strikes anywhere in the world. washingtonpost.com/world/national…
We need a clear answer from the Pentagon on this report—and a clear accounting of how they determine civilian causalities.
