The thing about burn out and stress is that you become hyper focused on the bad and (temporarily) lose your optimism and creativity. This can spiral into severe sadness and bouts of depression. And no you can’t just snap out of it.
Furthermore, this can make certain life events, like having a difficult time at work or home devastating. And it’s not simple as telling someone they should change their home/work etc. I don’t have the answers bc I’m the one exp severe burn out right now.
But what I do know is that having a support system during these times is critical. And by support I mean folks you trust who get you and can hear you out w/o judgement. This is not always possible which leads to more
So here we are. And if you don’t know if this is the case for you, check the signs. Stress, getting sick a lot/other health issues, exhaustion, overwhelm, no longer excited about things that used to excite you, are you happy = no & “What do you really want to do” = \_(ツ)_/¯
The last two questions are not helpful by the way. Especially during this time. If you are one of those folks who actually have emotional intelligence and really want to help but don’t know how, one way you can is by just listening w/o a master plan or todo list.
Being honest with yourself about life, love, career and goal realignment (the why) can be crushing and scary (especially when the why has dramatically changed over the years. Your why may have changed from being all about career to more about living life.).
