Our new pre-print with preliminary results: "Shallow metagenomics with Nanopore sequencing in canine fecal microbiota improved bacterial taxonomy and identified an uncultured CrAssphage" biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

THREAD
This is the fecal microbiota profile of each of the dogs included with V4 16S rRNA amplicon approach.
We pooled the samples and used long-read metagenomics with Nanopore sequencing to improve the taxonomic profiles up to species level.
Long-read metagenomics retrieved a circular contig that hit the prototypical uncultured crAssphage. This was the most abundant non-bacterial member in one of our cohorts of healthy dogs!
Uncultured crAssphage is the most abundant virus previously reported in human fecal metagenomes.
