This tragedy prompted Joan Bavaria, a pioneer in the modern socially investing movement, to organize the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economics (CERES). Among the outcomes: the Valdez Principles, a guide for evaluating corporate conduct. @CeresNews @TrilliumAM
@MindyLubber recalls the launch of the Valdez Principles, which emerged from the work of the @CeresNews coalition that has grown substantially since. I was there when this picture was taken, which seems not that long ago. But the challenges remain even mightier.
The work of @CeresNews continues apace, which includes the Ceres Investor Network on Climate Risk and Sustainability that comprises 163 institutional investors, collectively managing more than $25.4 trillion in assets. But that's not all.

As @MindyLubber writes in @Forbes, "Through initiatives such as Climate Action 100+, a global collaboration with our regional partner organizations, investors are moving the largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters into alignment with the objectives of the Paris Agreement."
"Investors also are demonstrating leadership in sustainable investment decision-making and policy advocacy. More than 400 investors have taken action in line with The Investor Agenda," @MindyLubber
writes.

"[D]eveloped w/our global partners, [it] highlights investor actions such as: investing in low-and zero-carbon assets, phasing out investmnt in thermal coal, increasing climate-related financial disclosures & backing stronger climate policies, such as [pricing] carbon pollution."
"We must all recognize power of our investable dollars to accelerate transition to a just & sustainable global economy that ensures a livable planet for all of us," @MindyLubber writes in @Forbes.
