Can the state ever deliver either compassion or effective mental health or disability care!? Or any organisation or body? Is it just too faceless and compounded by structural and personality issues and conflicted interests? Why isn't pessimism the answer? Why's capitalism narrow
How can we be sure of anything? Is it all hopeless? CMHT sent a guy to 'assess'/visit a while ago - he just bamboozled me with info-dump about coping strategies - and as I induced him to admit he was mostly just trying to bump me out of my frame of mind; I found that abusive but
I managed to talk him round to a positive end so I felt unable to complain there and then. And is cat-and-mouse complaints-based consumer-power the way to ensure a service is properly run; what is properly anyway; can't it just work? Lol. Expectation management v authoritariansm
...vs evidence base/reasonable expectations of how to manage things well plus some 'sweeper' (football position) and messier, adaptive 'no man left behind' passionate mutual responsibilities run home somehow in all cases - and this not being authoritarian or otherwise undesirable
so that we think of it as a team thing where we want everyone o be cared for and to work with people when they're difficult, anxious, stubborn, unable, frustrating etc - cos despite this supposedly being the basis of religion&none that's exactly what everyone's wanting! (sarcasm)
I think capitalism *is* so narrow and pessimism and the typical 'no such thing as altruism in the real world; people only work for themselves and badly at that' type of attitude makes me want to lie down and howl - feels like giving in to chaos and the devil and denies big truths
It's like British taps, really: the sick political binary of 'there is only Stalin or Rupert Murdoch' - we cling to it so perniciously, and there are some benefits to doing that, it feels cleaner and more wysywig somehow; but it might not be the best way!!
Yet I find mixer taps such enormous disappointments: they consistently make me feel sooooo stupid. I just can't do them. I can't manage the flow and temperature as communicated by the particular semaphore of all the particular tap designs!! And if I get it, I can't do it/remember
And those automated motorway services/fancy magic eye taps that are supposed to be temperature controlled - you have no control over, need access to cold drinking/cleaning water separately - and they make me feel like a ghost in some unknown tech-fantasist/futurists wet dream.
I don't know exactly what this has to do with politics but via the all-encompassing magic of the field of network of science I am now convinced my intuition is true that metaphors have meat&mettle, their form and relationships therein contain a truth or several somehow: as models
And in that vein, ecology is where I get my counter-capitalist affirmations. Artificial or not, as abstractions: we do not consider habitats dominated by particular species to the detriment of most others, nor often very closed/richly fertilised pools, to be healthy. Diversity is
But that sign at the recent demo about needing immigrants for diluting the genepool of [chinless-wonder/controversial politicians] disappointed, worried and frustrated me. Even whilst a part of me smiled cos it was clever and I saw some of it's point; but that confounded me more.
Leftwing anti-eugenics tied up so it completely comes full circle! I hate the ableism directed at politicians: and there's selection! Why is it that the right-wing can laugh and point about horseshoe theory but neoliberalism is not the praxis-perfect opposite to that in a circle?
I posit that actually the traits that make people want to be or get pushed/pulled to be exceptional, to be changemakers, are indeed exceptional but not the only kinds of people who are exceptional but the dichotomised half who are just odd or have 'overcome' disability/challenges
and it has so much to do with inspiration porn; and whatever weird mix of physics, evolutionary psychology/sociology/anthropology and philosophical modelling otherwise that should underpin it in a perfect apposite outline understanding. But do we need to have that model pinned!?
This is very much like the diagnosis or no question: if we could just individuate and be accepting and holistic to all do we need stigma or labels; so should that be the goal, to avoid them. And maybe it depends or is a bit wibbly-wobbly: nouns are tools not gods. Understanding!?
That again is useful but there's parameters - or something. Scope. You don't need to do a physics degree to fix a roof with a hammer: you don't need a diagnosis nor an utter rejection/no shadow of one to try to love and connect with a child, but people get caught in that trap.
And this is NOT all as obvious as people will usually so triumphantly try to make out in a disagreement or aftermath of something: the mind and the mentality and practice of our intentions is limited even for those weird supercilious ableds. And we all can be twats.
So what about structure? Some kind of algorithm, paradigm or plan that we could evolve for doing things better, more kindly and more consistently? This is bringing me full circle. But I don't think for one minute that this is the end of it! I think it's about form & not *an* org.
I think we might want to experiment with conceptual forms and how we articulate them as a creative and practical part of our culture - to move beyond empire, heirarchy and trash categories like the 'lumpen' which we only try to recycle ppl from. Rather than get stuck on bad tools
Let me propose, for a start, that formality is the counterpart of flow, like Ying and Yang are counterparts rather than strictly opposite in a necessarily combative or incompatible way: but a unique conception, or a modern or western or lefty philosophy influenced by - not stolen
As it is in my head, there's a conceptual stem with some background to each of them, similar but not exactly like the qualities associated with Yin/Yang!? Formal is reflective, organised, modelled, chunked, spaced; flow is engagement, direct, warm, complex, smooth, intuitive etc?
I think a lot of autistic play and activity, to give an example close to me you might 'get', is a managed space that's carefully balanced between these two: because executive function/sense is hard.
I don't vouch for all the facts/stats in this: it's old!
Much like me!
The script about Rosie's brother was a bit off for me as well. But I highlight the flow and particular own world in a sensory or stylistic/imaginative way with the bubbles, & Rosieness -and then the Warhammer and the way that set of rules helped create a contained world for Tony.
I think decent disability and mental health provision and indeed well-modelled truly needs-based political philosophy and communal organisation needs to model that in a bigger way somehow - real-world world-building.
*model and empower that.
And I think that's what real life interpersonally should be about as well.
I am feeling low: partly based on ability to get support and commune and have power and be a decent person in close relations and partly in any and all relationships; I am anxious about everything. I need my own nurse or a talking shop: casual/low emotion/low intensity: holistic.
Or at least that was what I was going to write/had written and I've copy pasted from the tweet I didn't post and started this thread in another tab, and cheered up a bit with a bit of purpose and assistance from Chesney Hawkes.
I am the one and only: thank-you for your time!
