ugh this is a bummer. i have a whole fleet of interesting old machines I can't use right now

all the apple iis are useless until i get my SD card reader (which someone helped me with - thank you again!) and that probably wont' be until next week

i have a bunch of disks for the atari as well as an SD reader but it's fucked for reasons I THINK i know but can't easily throw money at right now.

the atari's like this
- carts work fine (natch)
- i got cassette to work once but i don't trust my decks, which both have belt issues
- SIO2SD boots to menu then freezes instantly
- floppies load the beginning of the program then shit the bed

to me this is RAM. i tried swapping the positions of the 32K expansion and 16K base RAM cards and it sort of changes the flavor of the failures but it's still fucky.

I can go to ebay and order a 16K tested RAM card, but that's $20 + shipping and ehhhhhhhhhnnnnnhhhhhh i don't wANna

plus i don't know if it really IS the RAM so tha tmight just be another $20 gone.

i'd LIKE to ask some forumites for consensus, because hey, maybe
- the cassettes are old and bad and the decks are bad
- the floppies are old and bad and the drive is bad
- the sio2sd works fine and i just don't know how to use it

plus there's always the chance of that Joulespercoulomb Motherfucker answering. you know, the guy who sniffs the air and says "oh RAM IC 3 is bad"

occasionally a wizard shows up and saves you and i would LIKE that to happen here
