Many people are upset about the sudden news of charges being dropped against Jussie Smollett for hoaxing a hate crime despite the mountain of evidence against him and rightfully so.
Michelle Obama's former chief of staff, Tina Tchen, was involved in relaying the number of Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx to a relative of Smollett. She also contacted Foxx personally to inform her the family had concerns about the police investigation.
The rationale for this concern was police leaks. Yet, most of what the leaks they were concerned about were already becoming public knowledge from sources outside the CPD. chicago.suntimes.com/news/records-f…
Tina Tchen was recently hired by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC is known for its influence in Chicago, but also promoting just about everything as a hate crime. SPLC immediately promoted the hoax affiliating it with others.
National Review did an awesome article on Tina Tchen on 22 March 2019 indicating her attempts to interfere in the Smollett case and being hired by the SPLC. The SPLC has taken a public thrashing lately with its own internal problems with hate. nationalreview.com/news/splc-taps…

While Smollett may have gotten off for his hoax hate crime, those that aided an abetted getting the charges dropped may face criminal prosecution if there is a thorough investigation. These people are so used to getting away with it they don't think they'll get caught.
Remember PA State AG Kathleen Kane thought she'd get away with dropping charges against state politicians caught taking bribes. She was tried and convicted after a thorough investigation. nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/For…
Something else to keep in mind, this isn't the Obama DOJ anymore, this is the Trump DOJ and it has been far more aggressive at charging people for crimes than the Obama DOJ when it comes to this type of nonsense.
