Heya, #Rammstein fans!! Their last video clip "Deutschland" is an absolute astonishing piece of art! And there's lots of cultural-historical references to Germany in it! Just in case you didn't realise, I will speak about the references hidden in the video!

From the very beginning, (0:07) references to the roots of modern Germany are shown with a reference to the military campaign of roman emperor Augustus to annex the territories between rivers Rhine and Elbe, that belonged to combative native tribes.Its name was "Germania Magna"

This first part of the video shows a majestic and leafy forest. Due to the historical reference and the itinerary of the Roman conquest of Germany, (could be) a tribute of the group to the impressive German Black forest -Schwarzwald- located in the south-west of the country

After this scene, the video leads us to a clandestine fight.(Just a theory, because of the clothes are wearing) in the early 30's,Germany's economy was in turmoil and the German people was suffering a dramatic crisis.Morally doubtful activities such as clandestine flights spread

During the whole video the Berlin-based model Ruby Commey appears as "Germania" but in this frame (1:59) she appears with a golden armour with a Two-Headed eagle emblem forged on it. Curiously, it was the coat of arms of the Holy Roman German Empire (Heiliges Römisches Reich)

Just after this scene (2:01) one of the most amazing German inventions of the XXth century appears: the airship "Zeppelin" class Hindenburg, an impressive aircraft that suffered a devastating accident in 1937 during the landing maneuvers in an airfield in New Jersey, USA

After a brief scene back to the fight, at 2:26, we are able to see a political cabinet of the GDR (German Democratic Republic- Deutsche Demokratische Republik) a communist state established with the support of the USSR after the end of WWII

At 2:40 we see a woman that seems to be Ruby Commey holding a group of dogs. This dogs are german shepherds, a dog breed that comes originally from Germany known to be obedient, loyal, intelligent and brave

At 3:45 comes another mayor reference: the launch point of the Vergeltungswaffe 2 (commonly known as "V-2 rocket") the first ballistic missile developed by the Nazi War Machine during WWII to bomb specific targets in enemy territory

After the controversial scene of Till Lindermann and the rest of the band characterised as Jewish prisoners in a nazi concentration camp, we see, at 4:25, a group of elite anti terrorist soldiers that could be part of the KSK, the special forces of the German army.

(5:06) there's a strange scene of what it looks like a birth /surgery , in which the main surgeon its disguised with the crimson ceremonial clothes of a catholic cardinal

Immediately after, at 5:10 there are a group of medieval knights marching inside a church. It could be a reference to the German military orders and templars but also to the main character of the XIXth romantic opera "Lohengrin" by Richard Wagner

After brief scenes of the knights marching and "Germania" leading the parade, we see a group of soldiers standing on a tank (maybe the Leopard type) and at the bottom of the scene, a giant bust of Karl Marx. Born in Trier in 1818, is one of Germany's most influential philosophers

The next reference is Ruby Conney, always suited with the golden armour and the crown, holding in his hand a beautiful black eagle.This animal is represented in the coat of arms of modern Federal Republic of Germany, and receives the name of "Bundesadler" (Federal Eagle)

And last but not least, at the end of the video, when the credits start (6:53) sounds a piano version of the vocal chorus that appeared at the end of another great hit of Rammstein, "Sonne"
