These are the options about future relation:

Common market 2.0

Join EFTA

Customs union

Labour's alternative

The Malthouse plan

The only three options that involved actually dealing with the withdrawal agreement were:

Brexit with no deal

Revoke Article 50 to avoid no deal

Confirmatory referendum

All the options on the first list of possible future relations still depend on the withdrawal agreement that parliament has now voted down three times.

So none of those are going to work because parliament won't ratify the withdrawal agreement.

And in the absence of a withdrawal agreement, these are the only possible options

Brexit with no deal

Revoke Article 50 to avoid no deal

Confirmatory referendum

But parliament doesn't seem to have the mental discipline to confront those three choices. You can't even get to any future relation until you first choose one of these three things.

And it's really quite simple. We, as a country, are going to do one of these three things. And we can do two of those three things, but only two.

A referendum, plus either revoke Article 50 or leave anyway.

So that's probably what parliament will come up with. Choose two of the three viable options we've got left.

Hold a referendum to decide whether we should

(a) Revoke Article 50

(b) Leave with nothing

And then you look at the quality of MPs, and you just despair. It's going top take them a decade to work it out
