A thread on #nonviolence:

This man is not being passive. He is demonstrating attention to an ultimate goal by making it clear who’s the oppressed and who’s the oppressor. He is harnessing his energy to win a critical policy change in the freedom struggle.
#Nonviolence is not passive; nor does it cower in the face of evil and injustice. However, it is strategic, active and tactical, with an ultimate goal in mind. Now the question is: What’s the ultimate goal?
A critical mass of people with a shared ultimate goal will help us develop a global, comprehensive strategy. We determine the parts that make up the whole. Example: reuniting children with families is a part of the ultimate goal of creating a more peaceful, just, humane world.
But understand these words from my father: “True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.” Those complicit in facilitating injustice must be honest about the source of tension; and work for justice, instead of only condemning disorder. #MLK
Remind yourself of an ultimate goal concerning true peace & equity.

Meditate on a strategy that will get us there w/o causing our extinction.

Yield prime energy to defeating injustice, not people. When injustice is defeated, those who stood for it can no longer stand.
Let’s not normalize inhumanity and injustice in America and across the globe. Refuse to adjust to inhumanity and injustice. Be “creatively maladjusted,” but wise. Together we win, with love for humanity. #MLK #Nonviolence
