Profound statement by Prof Ndletyana on ENCa: "ANC is a patronage based party. Members view the party as a means to improved livelihoods through tenders. Morality has been ditched. JZ successfully entrenched this culture to secure loyalty"
Unfortunately our party list based proportional electoral system provides a basis for this conduct. To be on the list can be a fight to death. Ample evidence is there. Moerane commission has confirmed this objective view. Read my Op-Eds in Biz Day.
In this Op-Ed my objective view is that the ANC must be reconstructed on a new moral foundation to fit current perceptions. Membership is a license to loot. Corruption is reviled globally: ANC will need to rise from the ashes mg.co.za/article/2018-0…
In the circumstances the fundamental question is: Does Ramaphosa have the executive latitude+top leadership support 2 effect foundational and transformative reform?The objective answer must bean emphatic NO. Unless of course you believe in Devine intervenrion

Very short history of irrational decision making and state capture by the ANC wrt Eskom:
1. Around 2001 govemnt decided not to invest in new generation plants.
2. Under pressure and panic Medupi and Kusile get the go ahead
3.Chancelor house (ANC investment Co.) and Hitashi get the job without public tender.
4. 2008 1st load shedding happens.
5. Maintenance and refurbishment of generation plants suffer budget cuts.
6. From 2011 revolving door is erected at board level.
7. A series of disastrous board changes is implemented 1st under Gigaba.
8. Experienced technicians and engineers are shafted out of Eskom.
9. Slope to disaster is covered in slippery oil under growing debt; inefficiency and massive corruption

@Eusebius The long game strategy you have just recounted does sound conving. However consider the following:
1. The NEC has another 4yrs beyond the election. Half its members benefited from the JZ patronage. They continue to be under his control.
2. Ace, is essentially the CEO of ANC. His avowed support for JZ is uncontestable. He's also publicly contradicted Cyril.
3. Cyril does Not have executive power. His mandate is to execute ANC policy under oversight by the NEC.
4. Doctrine of collective leadership is central to the ANC culture and underpinned by the philosophy of Democratic Centralism.
5. His latitude for decision making is objectively constrained. Thabo Mbeki was ejected for adopting a strong man leadership style.

In the spirit of Education, let me do the ignorant generation a favor by showing you how diligently accountable people respond to defamation according to various researches on the subject. It is only when you learn that you become. There’s a difference between growth & swelling.
First thing first, defamation is a civil suit and never bumped up to a criminal act requiring a state of emergency or trumped up charges as crazy as terrorism allegation. The killer herdsmen are free today under some Governor’s payroll. No police statement till tomorrow.
Morally this is wrong but our constitution did not criminalize immorality. People under this admin’s payroll at the BMC Call Objective people who they fear & hate names. Even accuse us of being frauds just because we have refused to swallow their barbiturates under demonic oath.

Nelson Mandela, who died on 5 Dec. 2013, would have been 100-years-old today. He oversaw the transition from apartheid to majority rule in South Africa, gaining a near-saintly reputation. But his legacy, and that of his party, the African National Congress, is more complicated.
The Soviet Union before the Second World War had little knowledge of Africa. One of its few focuses was South Africa, the most developed state, and the #ANC from its foundations was tied up with the slavishly pro-Soviet #SACP and more directly with Soviet intelligence.
By the 1930s, the Soviets lost interest in revolution in Africa, though retained its #ANC assets. In the 1960s, the U.S.S.R. moved to try to win the Cold War in the Third World. It provided money and other support to the ANC, plus encouraging a virtual merger with the SACP.
