Excuse me as I don't take seriously Mark Zuckerberg's supposed concerns about harmful content when Alex Jones is still on Instagram.
That op ed wasn't a call for regulation. It was an attempt to shape it in his favor.
This refreshingly algorithm-free bit of news, though, is the right move, and I hope not just more lip service from Facebook. Zuck historically having not understood journalism as anything more than competition w/ his platform has harmed democracy. theguardian.com/technology/201…

As Congress gets ready to ask Google & Facebook execs about how their companies fueled a rise in white nationalism & racism, I encourage members to ask about proactive (versus reactive) measures to stop it and whether the companies feel an overarching responsibility to the truth.
Also, when GOP-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee looks into how tech cos. have allegedly enabled an anti-conservative bias, we can ignore their likely heavy use of word "censorship." Only govt. can censor. Companies have the right to do biz (or not) with whomever they want.
If a racist, conspiracy theory spewing loon wanders into Nordstrom and security shows him the door, that's not censorship—right? That's a company choosing to keep its customers safe. Same for Facebook and Google. Companies don't owe anyone a platform. They don't owe us speech.

I'm really not impressed w/ Joe Biden making light of the consent issue today. Pretty disrespectful to the women who have come forward, in my opinion, and tone deaf in general in terms of the whole spirit of #MeToo movement. I want leaders who don't need any of this explained.
Both the president of the United States and the top challenger for the position joked this week about inappropriately touching women.
Those trying to say that Biden's behavior isn't what #MeToo is about might want to check in with the actual founder of Me Too on that.

Got news for you, Boeing: your policy of donating to every administration doesn't excuse you from having donated to a corrupt one. This goes for every company with similar donation policies in place.

Not a single question yet about censorship and bias against conservatives like @DiamondandSilk. That's why @HouseGOP is headed for a thumping and why @SenateGOP likely won't have a clear supermajority. B/C they're cowards who only pretend to be like their base. Democrats are not.
2. So, I get home and turn on @IngrahamAngle last night. She's talking to @DiamondandSilk about Facebook censorship, and said "they better ask Zuckerberg" about censoring conservatives.

I laughed. Hard.

There was no chance those cowards would stick up for their voters.
