Received one of these infamous leaflets in the post today from @ScotTories and it was a frustrating read. On the back was a wee questionnaire and I must say they can’t have read up on the local area! I’ll answer and dissect their comments in this thread!

Q1) Free town centre Wi-fi- here in Oban, we have this already. reduced business rates - can’t comment on these as I don’t know enough on the subject. Empty shop powers- recently a lot of shops in oban have reopened with new businesses (look at Combie Street). Promote buy local

Campaigns- we have several local shops such as the craft shop by the train station, the new local food shop on combie street. Better parking- here in Oban there is issues with parking and the Conservative coalition council and the SNPs Cllr Jim Lynch is working on it to try and

Improve it for locals and tourists.
Q2) improve sports facilities- Here in Oban we have Atlantis Leisure, an asset to the community and does not deserve Tory interference. Protect local health services- based on what has happened with the NHS in England and the recent

Statement in ScotParl from one of the Tory MPs pretty much stating they want the NHS privatised does not incite much hope on this issue. Better local transport networks- in Oban the busses are often and on time but there is still room for improvement but I don’t trust the Tories

In getting it done- look at Grayling. More affordable housing- the current Scottish Government are building 50,000 affordable homes by 2021, with another 300 being built out at Dunbeg now. Maintain local banking services- again this is another issue I’m not 100% clear on.

Better broadband speeds- this is a devolved issue that your Government in Westminster hasn’t achieved so what makes us believe that you would @RuthDavidsonMSP? The Scottish Government had to stump up massive amounts of money for something that lies with Westminster!

Q3) more local policing- I’m not sure exactly on the advantages or disadvantages of this but so far I believe @policescotland are doing a good job? Stronger powers to evict tenants caught dealing drugs- not clear on this issue either.

Greater use of “on the spot” fines to help deal with AS behaviour- I’m not sure fineing people is the answer, surely educating people on the impact AS behaviour has and teaching children from a young age would have a more positive impact?

Q4) If you could fix one issue locally what would it be?- for me it would have to be to save Youth Services but the Conservative Coalition council decided to cut the budget which will have a huge negative impact on young people (#saveABYS)

Q5) view on the possibility of #IndyRef2 - of course I’m #stillYes and given the state of affairs in Westminster I believe a lot more people will be too but only time will tell.

Q6) better first minister- @RuthDavidsonMSP or @NicolaSturgeon? Personally at this time I believe it to be Nicola as she is sticking up for Scotland’s interests. After independence who knows who I would want as the next FM but I wouldn’t Choose Ruth until the Tories stuck up for

The people of Scotland.
Q7) voting in the next election- Tories, SNP, Labour, LibDem, Green or “not decided, but possibly Scottish Conservative”- for me at this time it has to be @theSNP, until we have an independent Scotland then who knows who I would vote for based on

What they promise to do that would improve our wee country.
And that’s it folks, I doubt I’ll have any comment from any of the Tories but I have lots of questions for them after reading the full leaflet and I hope that people look at the full picture before choosing to vote
