Sooooo...we just gon keep saying that the non-apology “apology” from Biden was genuine when he made no less than three jokes about consent on the non campaign campaign trail today? I mean if it wasn’t so painful it might be funny.

Today’s comments to me demonstrate that he does not in fact “get it” as his video message suggested, and further, that it’s not even something he takes seriously.

And before one of you jumps in to talk about litmus tests let me say this: is it *really* too much to ask for someone to apologize when they’ve done something wrong? Especially if they want to, you know, RUN THE COUNTRY?

So my question is this: when we gonna stop moving the goalposts for Democratic contenders who don’t get it when it comes to respecting women but might just maybe appeal to that mythical universe of white working class voters waiting on him to run for President?

There’s a danger here and it reminds me of 2016–it’s that “go forward at all costs” mentality. If Biden cannot do the BASIC act of saying “I’m sorry I had this impact on you and it won’t happen again,” and demonstrate he means it by not joking about it on the trail...

Y’all still just gonna roll full steam ahead anyway? And we wonder why folk be like meh, I’m good.

Also just to make this point one more time please for the love of everything holy stop saying this is a generational thing. It don’t take someone being under age 35 to know to keep your hands to yourself. We learn this in kindergarten, folks.

In any case, sure — no ones perfect, but that’s not the issue here. It’s how you address your imperfections. But I’m gonna put my vote and my money behind someone who understands the very basic notion that women are not your petting zoo.
