John Minford, #SunTzu 4: 25 & 26 "25 - A victorious army is like a pound weight in the scale against a grain; 26 - a defeated army is like a grain in the scale against a pound weight."

Today's focus is #SunTzu 4: 26.

I'll show you the exact number in a moment, but first, let me just type in exactly how much a grain of sand weighs: nine hundred seventy hundred-millionths of a pound. Yes, I had to look that up. There's no way to read these digits without help: 0.00000970 pounds.

You can't imagine how stupid such numbers make me feel. I'm looking right at it, and it still makes no sense to me. What is a hundred-millionth of something? I'm going to go look again. One hundred-millionth = 0.0000001. Six zeroes right of the decimal and a one in seventh slot.

I know you get the idea that it's small. I do too. But still, we have to add 870 hundred-millionths to get all the way up to our weight? Confess with me now, you don't know how to think about this any more than I do. If you do...respect. And just how is this NOT nothing?

Hey, I got it! 970 one hundred-millionths is precisely 9.7 times larger than 1 one hundred-millionth. I got it now! I was lying. I don't get it yet. How much larger is one pound than...a grain of sand? Can I guess, a lot, like, really, really a lot?

Let's change topic, sheesh. You're a young farm boy, and with the weapons of your time (the late 1770s), you have learned how to plug a squirrel in a tree. You don't like squirrel soup, but you'll eat it in a pinch, and besides, you like shooting them. You're a damn fine shot.

You here from the crazy horse rider that the Red Coats are coming and no one can stop you from gathering with the local militia. You're proud to bring your own weapon, and you're ready. There they are, out on the road. And you, you're in the trees. Steady eyed, you take your aim.

By the way, your squirrels weigh in at roughly 1 pound. The Red Coat you're aiming it is likely at least 150 pounds, which is precisely 150 times more than your squirrels weigh. Showing off, you aim for his head. So gently you squeeze off your round. He falls.

Your bullet weights about .04 of a pound. Kills him dead right now. There he was, marching in line to the beat of a drum. There you are, shooting through the crook of branches, safe and light and essentially invisible. You are the pound weight. He is the grain of sand.

We switch scenes again. Here is Little Marco Rubio trying to make jokes about Donald Trump's hands. Have you ever seen a promising career go up in smoke so fast, so inexorably, so unstoppably? I used to really like Rubio. I can never feel the same respect again. Poof, gone, puff.

Far worse, it's now the 1980s. The bank is foreclosing on your home in three more days. You've seen the neighbors closing up house and heading off to live elsewhere with relatives. Your town's 3 factories are now all shuttered. You, your friends and your town are grains of sand.

Each of us, the forgotten Americans, we each weigh about 970 hundred-millionths of a pound in the hearts, minds, recognition and care of the elites who run the swamp. They often spend more in one minute than we earn in 14 years. You can do the math on that one for me, okay?

Can we in the MAGA movement flip these numbers? Can we find that moment where our hundred-millionth's worth of influence is sufficient to win a vote? What if we organized? What if we discovered the principles of guerrilla politics and mastered them? Could we be the pound?

HRC and the Democrats were never a grain of sand. And pound for pound they absolutely bested us in the 2018 midterms. But, how can we regain the advantage? There is a single starting point. We have to picture winning. We're the pound. They're the grain of sand. Picture it.

Focus on just one vote. You vote for Trump in 2020. The vote we must focus on is just one more. Someone who wouldn't have voted at all is best. Come with me, you say, and vote for Trump. Lead your friend, with conviction and gentle strength. Win one vote. Then do it again.

Imagine. Let's say there are 30,000,000 (that reads 'thirty million') true MAGA supporters. Could it be that we few could each win first one vote, and then a second? At 90,000,000 votes, Trump would smash any contender with a blow-out landslide victory and mandate.

Play with the numbers. Reduce by a factor of 10, to just 3,000,000 activists. Now, each of us has to win 30 votes to hit our 90,000,000-vote goal. Harder. Much harder, but not impossible to imagine, is it? What if we're only 1,000,000 strong? We'd need to win 90 votes each.

The sense of a grain of sand in the scale measured against a pound weight is much more than merely about elections. What if we unleashed moms on principals, school boards and curriculums? Do you know the Mama Bear look? I'd not want to fight one, I can tell you that.

With a bit of Sun Tzu strategy, one mom is likely at least a million times mightier than 970 educators. Two moms joined can change the world. A properly supported and trained team of moms, with a dad or two thrown in for seasoning? We might actually make education American again.

We just have to keep rolling that pound weight around in our minds and weighing it in on the scale up against a grain of sand. We've been that grain too many times, for far too long. Let's switch. Let's be the pound. We can do it. Somewhere in your soul, you know we can.
