/8 Our immoral health care system costs lives. My health care policy is driven by a simple principle: Healthcare is a human right. When you go to the doctor, it should be free.
/8 A cousin of mine with diabetes was denied Medicaid and couldn’t afford insulin. She was pregnant and she had her daughter prematurely due to the complications. I watched her slowly lose her eysight. She’s now completely blind.
/8 While insurance companies and Big Pharma drive regular Americans into economic ruin, those same special interests donate millions to politicians like @LeaderHoyer. Those politicians do the bidding of their corporate backers, stonewalling the transformative change we need.
/8 I support Medicare for All. These days, it can be hard to figure what candidates mean by that phrase, so I want to be clear.
/8 Medicare for All means every American uncovered by the Indian Health Service or the Veterans Health Administration will transfer onto a single, public health insurance plan. (That’s not to say the IHS and VHA don’t need to be dramatically improved. They do.)
/8 That plan will cover prescription drugs, primary care, maternity care, vision and dental care, reproductive healthcare, doctors' visits and lab services. The amount an individual could pay for prescription drugs will be capped at $200 per year.
/8 Co-pays, deductibles, and premiums would be eliminated.
/8 Read more about Medicare for All, as well as the rest of my platform, on my website: mckayla2020.com/issues . And please, we want to hear from you about your experiences with health care in this country. #Mckayla2020 #PrimaryHoyer #AVoteForUs
