Livetweet Thread to the #Boltathon. First up is @alexbosworth:
"In order for #LightningNetwork to succeed, a decentralized layer 1 is a must."
"Multiple member #LightningNetwork channels imply thousands of members per channel, tens of thousands of members per block, billions of members per week."
Next up is @bitconner on the architecture of lnd towers.

"It's one of the solutions to constantly having to be online. The design space in this area is massive. There are at least 10-12 dimensions of privacy to consider."
Fabrice from @acinq_co is now live for the #boltathon and is going to live demo the Lightning Network in Action!
"One thing that isn't often understood is that there are more channels on the #LightningNetwork than the public ones you see on an explorer. There are many more channels that exist so you don't need 1 MM public channels to serve 1 MM people."
Q: Can you use channels to mix coins?
A: You can use cross-chain atomic swaps on the LN between different blockchains e.g. BTC/LTC. But one thing that's the hardest part is to set up is an exchange rate.
Next up is @tgriff3 from @sparkswap on Atomic Swaps on the #LightningNetwork.

"Current exchanges follow the model of 'You can trust us.' We've already been down this road. We can do better with non-custodial trading."
"Financial assets have been traded for centuries. If these assets can look more like #Bitcoin, the better. As a result, we can anticipate a future where trading these assets is a fundamental part of our financial system."
"One possible solution to the `American Free Option` for Atomic Swaps is bonding with penalties or with an arbiter. It is still an active area of research. But we're confident we can find an answer without sacrificing our non-custodial nature."
@pierre_rochard currently breaking down the struggles of assembling a #Lightning node and why he created the Node Launcher.
"What I love about the node launcher is that it sets you up with your own full node."
"When opening channels, it's best not to rely on automatic fees but examine the mempool."
"If you're not a routing node, you should definitely be a private Lightning Network channel."
@r0ckstardev and @britttttkelly starting strong in their session with the background behind @BtcpayServer!
"None of us can do all this alone. We're not experts on everything. Get involved." -@britttttkelly
BREAKING: "Satoshi's vision is developing on windows." -@r0ckstardev
@rusty_twit from @Blockstream doing a deep dive by starting from 0 to building a plug-in for c-lightning!
"c-lightning is constructed with several subdaemons. This is for security."
No quote. Just very floored that Rusty is coding everything live and providing dev-insight every single step of the way. 😱
@juscamarena providing a great overview of different lnd api's for hackers. Super helpful summary for hackers looking to build projects on top of lnd.
"In the 1st year, Bitrefill had meaningful funds in on our channels w/out backups which was kind of reckless. But recently Static Channel Backups was merged. It's not perfect because you trust your peers, but it's still better than nothing. I sleep better at night because of it."
"In production, you should run multiple #LightningNetwork nodes. I run 2 lnd nodes and an eclair node. It limits the risk or even can eliminate the risk of service downtime."
@frautenbach! "People think that banks make a ton of money through cash. But actually banks actually hate cash. In South Africa, the 4 largest banks spend almost $1 billion annually managing cash."
It costs 34 cents to the dollar to transport cash to rural areas.
And that's a wrap! Thank you all for joining the first ever online conference for the #boltathon! It's been an incredible experience and crazy to see how many people bought tickets last minute.
Join us tomorrow at 2pm for the project presentations. Will send out the link shortly tonight. Best of luck to our hackers. Time to get some rest. 😴😴😴
