In 2007, the US military murdered @Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, his assistant Saeed Chmagh and several other people. They thought their cameras were weapons. The US military lied and said they died in a battle between US forces and insurgents.

And let me be clear: this is not a problem that Twitter can “fix”

There is no technological solution for what is ultimately a societal problem.
Society has tolerated this shit for almost 2 decades and it will take decades to undo the damage. There have never been any social repurcussions for incitement against Muslims. It’s normalized.

So they’re going to open an investigation into why the President spent days denying it ever happened and parroting the line of the Saudis on the murder of a journalist and a permanent resident of the United States, RIGHT?
This is why I don’t take Republicans seriously. They may be squeamish about how Trump talks about journalists or treats them, but will do nothing to protect them even though United States Senators have the power to push back on the President.
Now it’s so expected that Republicans will let Trump get away with anything that we’ve just shrugged at what he does, like he’s an unstoppable force. But he’s not. He is NOT unstoppable.
